Ad Agencies Association presents UWI Bursary and charitable donations

Members of the The Advertising Agencies Association of Trinidad and Tobago (AAATT) recently made one individual and two worthy causes happier through donations from the Association’s fundraising efforts.

Annually, the AAATT makes two tertiary level educational awards of $10,000 each. Maryssa Beckford, who is studying Visual Arts, was thrilled to be chosen as one of this year’s recipients. AAATT members have offered to add value to the Bursary by offering her regular internships and participation in activities such as the Creative Awards.

AAATT paid tribute to two of the late stalwarts of the industry by contributing to their favourite charities. Donations of $5,000 each were made to Helen Mc David of Servol, in the name of John Corbin, and to Madonna Cliff-Morris from the Cyril Ross Nursery, in the name of Clive Belgrave. Corbin and Belgrave were early pioneers of the AAATT, and builders of the Association over many decades. Both were keenly involved in ‘giving back’ to their country, particularly young people, long before the concept of ‘corporate social responsibility’ finally became a world-wide movement.[/vc_column_text]

Industry Advertising Standards are being updated and you can comment on it! https://aaatt.org/industry-advertising-standards-are-being-updated-and-you-can-comment-on-it/ https://aaatt.org/industry-advertising-standards-are-being-updated-and-you-can-comment-on-it/#respond Mon, 21 Sep 2015 17:16:19 +0000 http://aaatt.org/?p=15678 The Bureau of Standards  through consultation with relevant interest groups invites public comments on all draft standards before they are declared as Trinidad and Tobago Standards in accordance with the provisions of the Standards Act.

The need for the revision of current Advertising standards was identified by major stakeholders in the advertising industry (inclusive of media, publishing and advertising associations) due to changes in digital technology which has resulted in the continuing increase of mobile and internet advertising, entertaining or viral and political advertising.

This proliferation of advertising has resulted in challenges to the advertising industry to maintain fair, responsible and honest relationships with consumers whilst effectively communicating various brands, ideas and information. The purpose of this standard is to address these challenges by establishing minimum requirements for the content of advertisements.

This standard addresses over thirty (30) issues some of which relate to promotions and competitions, the protection and privacy of individuals, defamatory references and political advertising. Over the next few months we will break down each of the issues and explain how they relate to you as a consumer and as a collegue in the industry.

Read Trinidad and Tobago Standard: Advertising Part 1 (3rd Revision)  for more information.
